James Hetfield Is Honored By His Former CollegeTuesday 31st of May 2011 12:42:10 PM
James Hetfield was inducted into the Hall of the fame of the Downey High School, your school of children:
The last Friday, James hetfield was inducted into the Hall of Fame of his high school, the Downey High School. It is known that it was not the best time for the frontman of Metallica, given the different stages that went through his teenage years, in addition to the education he received from his father, as well as the personality of the own James. Despite this, he was very happy and grateful for this recognition.
James spoke in a very relaxed manner with those attending the event. The words said in his speech can read them below:
"What comes to my mind is a tremendous gratitude for being recognized here, in the high school where I hid me most of the time while I was here."
"I hated my school, literally." It was a misfit, did not fit, he didn't fit, I I hid as possible in my music and listen to music. If I had to show in classes and obtain credits and stuff, just to make it through, but really I was not identified with anyone. "So again here, and be included in the Hall of Fame is something completely surreal and is a testimony to the drums in people, and as the latter included people in the category of"misfits"are able to implement and achieve their dreams, just in a different way".
"They were hard times for my high school, very hard." I came to Downey High, he lived very near here. I even tell my children my story, the story of trying to cross the main road to come here and be beaten by a car. And they say "tell another time".
"I am here to talk to you about the hard times which I had to go". My father left me when I was 13, and my mother died when he was 16. I did not complete high school here, which was very unfortunate because I had many friends here. I ended up moving to another school and went to have a life with my older brother, so her secondary no was the best time for my. But the music was my Savior, a great savior in my life, I was able to get into the head of the people and their records, and get involved in music, and basically, rather than go out and hang out at the school, I went home to practice my guitar; "and that was what I did."
"It's great to see young people here singing." The Jazz Band was what I was offered when I came here, I thought that it had no connection with the Jazz at all, but see these people play modern songs in the style of Jazz is inspiring, it's very great. "And that they come and stand behind what they are doing and feel proud of what they are doing, bring tears to my eyes".
"The first guitar that I bought, for which my mom made me work a long time, was a guitarist for a band of Jazz." "An SG, and after I finished llevandola to the market for an amplification system, I didn't know if he wanted to be a musician or singer, but in the end I finished doing both things".
"The other I wanted them to say, is that it was a very crucial time and I knew not so far." A lot of things occur in our lives and occur for any reason. What happened to me is that I was on the football team in my first year, I returned the following year to be on the team's second year and coach Cummings, which was its name tells me: "you'll have to cut you hair, it is too long, it is more than your ears". And I looked at all the players and said: "Well, you have to have long hair to be a good player of football". But the said "you have to cut you hair or you go team". at that time it was a very important decision. "I want to be a rocker?" or I want to be a football player? ", because all my childhood I wanted to be an Oakland Raider, that was." And the other dream was to be the type in the poster, in the poster for Aerosmith in my room. So then I made my decision. I gave my team and I concentrated on music. So thanks to the for making me choose. He was different, very different and stood his ground, as well as I. "So I'm very, but very happy that that happened at this school".
"Just want to say thank you to the Hall Of Fame include this misfit, already all people who are here today and all the young people I see here that they love the music and are inspired and led in their lives." "You receive its inspiration where you want to, and live their dreams to the fullest, because it can happen".
